For comparison, we gather and publish information about options trading brokers. We test the online brokerage platforms side by side, across the categories outlined below.
We will compare the following 10 popular brokers for options trading in Europe to help you choose the best one for your needs: Charles Schwab International, Degiro, eToro, Firstrade Securities, Freedom Finance, Interactive Brokers, TastyTrade (former TastyWorks), TD Ameritrade, Trading 212, Webull
Methodology. What makes a good broker for trading options?
- Availability for European users: We check whether the broker is available for users from Europe and offers services in their country of residence.
- Access to the US options exchange: We check whether the broker provides access to the US options exchange, which can offer a wider range of trading products and potentially higher returns, as well as exposure to some of the world's leading companies.
- User interface: We check the user interface of each broker's trading platform and evaluate how user-friendly and intuitive it is for traders.
- Fees: We check the fee structure of each broker, including commissions, account maintenance fees, and other charges, to determine the overall cost of using the platform.
- Customer support: We check the availability and responsiveness of customer support channels offered by each broker, assess the level of expertise and assistance provided by the support team, and examine the availability and quality of support resources provided by each broker.
- Regulatory compliance: we check the brokers are regulated by a reputable regulatory body like the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the United States or the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the United Kingdom.
Charles Schwab International, eToro, TD Ameritrade, Trading 212, and Webull, will not meet the criteria to be included in the top 5 table as they either don't operate in Europe or don't support options trading.
